Bodegon is a sustained meditation on the humble still life. The overlooked in our lives takes center stage as the poems point both to stillness and to abundance. The writings in English are enhanced by Spanish translations by writer Helena Rotes, and design by Jared Bendis.

These imagistic poems were inspired by sojourns in Spain, by the poetry of Federico Garcia Lorca and Antonio Machado, and by the paintings of Zurbaran, Melendez, and Morandi, among others. The poems are a tribute to that particular slant of light that is so much a part of the Mediterranean region.
